Chelsea in NYC!

Hey guys! Its Chelsea this time, Courtney has been sick for the last two weeks so she doesn’t have much to talk about for this entry. I’ll fill you in on her exciting life. Here it is, she has been sick, sneezing, studying, doing projects and going to bed by 10:30pm. HA! I have more exciting news to tell you about. Last week about 50 of us (La Roche students) left to go to New York City!!! It was my first time in the Big Apple, and let me tell you, I enjoyed every second of it! Every night a few of us went to dinner, and just had a FABULOUS time! The hardest thing for me and a couple of friends to remember is that the cars in NYC don’t stop like they do when you cross a normal street here at home. They just bust right through whether they are allowed or not!! I think I was most amazed by how many people are actually there. My favorite part of this mini-vacation was going to Little Italy and of course China Town! Every girl likes to shop (except Court) so going to China Town and buying all the purses, sunglasses, and jewelry was heavenly! We also went to a Yankees game. I must admit that I'm not a huge fan of the Yankees, but it’s pretty cool being able to say that I was there before they tear down the stadium and build a new one. Since I came back from our trip, I have been rushing around like crazy trying to get everything done (because I forgot about doing homework while I was away J) Today me and Court actually started packing up all the unnecessary things we have crammed in our little 10x10 dorm room. That’s pretty exciting because now summer is just around the corner. The only thing that is holding us back is UGHHH, FINALS!! Ok I’m going to go now and start working on my projects that are going to be due before I know it! Talk to you soon!

Spring Break

Hello Everyone!! Hope you all are doing well and excited for the warm weather to begin! We know personally that Spring/Summer can't come fast enough! We're both so tired of being cold, and wearing turtlenecks and jeans everyday! There is so much to tell you all about the past few weeks. A lot has happened since we wrote last so we better begin to tell you ALL about it!
Last week was La Roche's Spring Break. It actually fell earlier than most schools because it seems as though a lot of schools have a combined Spring
Break and Easter. We are actually really lucky here at LaRoche because we not only get a week off for spring break, but we have Wed night, Thursday, Friday, and Monday off for Easter as well! It is such a nice break! We have a lot of plans for Easter break but first we will get to telling you about our Spring Break.
Spring break couldn't have come at a better time for me (Courtney). I was getting a little lax on my school work because I was just anticipating break so much. I did so much over break between homework, hanging out with a few of my good friends, seeing family and working. My two friends from La Roche Ashley (who is also a blogger) and Meghan and I all went out to lunch together at Red Robin one of the days over break. We had a really great time and even managed to get sort of 'lost' on the way to the restaurant. We made it safely, and will probably always remember our adventurous ride to the restaurant. I also spent three different days at the nursing home that I work at. It was nice to be able to see a lot of the residents and a lot of my co-workers that I normally don’t get to see on the weekends that I work.
The one thing that I was going to miss while being home over spring break was watching "One Tree Hill" with my roommate and her boyfriend. We have sort of made it a tradition to all watch it together on Tuesday and talk about what is going to happen on the next showing. So, I was sort of upset that we wouldn’t be able to continue our tradition, but to my surprise they came over to my house and we all still got to watch it together!!!! It was an especially good episode so I'm really happy that I didn’t have to watch it myself and not be able to share my feelings about the show with anyone!! haha. I think that the best part about my Spring Break was getting to spend time with my boyfriend. It's so hard going through the week without seeing each other, but when we do, its always so much fun! He goes to Penn State so his break wasn't the same time as mine, but I still got to see him more than I normally would and it was just a great touch to my break!
I had a whole list of homework that I wanted to accomplish over Spring Break but I barely even touched that list. I kept putting it all on the back burner thinking "Oh, I have a whole week, I don’t need to do this right now" and guess what? The break went super fast and I was left on Sunday night completing it all. It wasn't too bad although, I thankfully got the majority of it done, and I am now all caught up. I often wonder how a lot of people can go away over Spring Break and still manage to stay caught up with work? I wish I wasn’t always so worried about homework, and I could totally forget about it for a whole week. That would be great! I did a lot of other things over Spring break but I think I should leave room for Chelsea to tell you about her break also! Hope you all continue to get excited about Spring and Summer!!!
Hi Everyone!!! It's Chelsea. My Spring Break went super fast! I didn’t get to do much other than homework over break but it was still so nice to be home with my mom and brother and get to eat my mom's cooking! I had a twelve page research paper to do over break because it was due the week we came back and I also had a big project to work on as well. The project was due today (Monday March 17th) and even while working on it almost all break I still had a lot to do to finish it by today. I stayed up until 2:30 last night working on it! It doesn’t matter now although because it's done and I'm really excited about how it turned out. Another thing I got to do was baby-sit. Now, in my case I wasn't babysitting a younger child, I was babysitting my dad!!!! My dad had to get back surgery over my break because he had six bad disks in his back. Courtney and I went over a couple days to 'baby-sit' him. It sort of was like we were babysitting because he couldn’t do anything on his own. It was very painful for him to walk, so we just tried to keep him comfortable and do anything that we could for him. It turned out to be a good couple of days because I got to relax for awhile each day, watch my favorite TV shows (mostly the design programs on TLC) and catch up on some lost sleep.
I also worked at the nursing home over Spring Break as well. I know a lot of people probably wouldn’t think working was fun to do over break, but when you work with such good people and friends like I do it is actually a good, relaxing and fun day. We always have a great time at work which makes the day go by so fast! I think that the best part about my Spring Break was getting to see my dog Nala. I just love her! I will have to post a picture of her sometime. I miss her a lot while I am at school. There was only one thing over Spring Break that I wanted to do and that was going out to eat with my family for my grand pap’s birthday. They all went out to eat at a place called "TJ Hideaway" but I wasn't able to go because I had to finish my project. My mom wasn't able to go either because she had eaten something earlier in the day that made her really sick. She was so sick that she couldn’t even get out of bed. So we missed out on a really fun family event, but Courtney took a picture of the entire family while they were all out so you will all get to be introduced to them all!! I hope that you all enjoyed reading our blog and continue to read it as we post more!!!
HAPPY SPRING!!!! :)

A New Addition

Hey everyone!! Wow, we both have had such a busy last few weeks that it is hard to remember what exactly went on since we wrote last. One of the biggest things that happened was we got an addition on our house. Our mother has always wanted to enclose our back deck in glass to get a sunroom and she finally got her wish!! It looks beautiful!! It took about a month and a half to get it all finished ( the workers didn’t show up a lot of the time when they were suppose to) but we are all very happy with the results. It’s a great place to watch movies now and do our ever-lasting loads of homework!! Hopefully we can get a picture up of the sunroom and let you all see it!!
Starting this week and next week we are having our first rounds of tests in most of our classes. It really puts a lot of stress on us because most of our tests are on the same day, or only a day apart. Chelsea is working hard on a project for one of her classes where she has to draw some famous cathedrals, and also create a life-size cardboard chair that can hold a 160lb person, while I am busy doing projects for my Children’s Literature class, and studying for a World Religions test which is tomorrow. Both of us are working very hard on all of these things, and really trying to do the best that we can.
Well, we better get back to studying and doing everything else that comes along with the college life. Can’t wait to talk to you all again!!!

Christmas Time!!!

When we were younger people would also say “boy, where did the time go” and Courtney and I would just look at each other because we felt differently, we though that time went so slowly. Well, now that we are a little older we often ourselves wonder, where did the time go? In fact, we just thought that on Sunday night when we moved back into school from Christmas break. For Christmas, I worked for the afternoon, and then I went to my Uncles for dinner and just time to relax with my family. Although I am 20 years old, I still found myself eating at the kids table for dinner. Courtney went to her boyfriend's grandma's house and then she and Greg (her boyfriend) came to my Uncle's also. We all sat around the living room and opened our presents, and then we all played a family game on the new WII. For Christmas, I got a treadmill (which I asked for) and of course clothes, which almost all girls want. Courtney got new skis, boots, and goggles. For New Years, I went to my boyfriend's in Ohio, and Courtney and Greg went to the Millennium Theatre in Lancaster County. We hope that you’re Christmas, New Years, and break was as exciting as ours and this New Year brings you lots of joy

Inseperable...

Hey Everyone!!! It’s both Courtney and Chelsea this time!! We haven’t really been apart for the last two weeks, so us both writing would have been sort of repetitive. We find ourselves busy with homework, studying for finals, and spending lots of money on Christmas presents. Finals are next week so a lot of our time has been spent preparing for those.
We have just returned back from Thanksgiving break which was like a tease. We are off for a short four days, and then we have to come back for two weeks, then its Christmas break!!!! Our break was spent together for the most part but Courtney ended up going to her boyfriend’s grandma’s house for thanksgiving dinner this year. Other than that we spent most of our time together. We worked over break at the nursing home, did a little shopping together, and watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. It is such a great movie, we highly recommend it!!!! Our break ended so quickly and here we are now studying for finals, which are next week L
Finals week is probably the most stressful week for all students. You have a test or project in each class that can ultimately determine your grade for the semester. On a more positive note although, we get through finals week thinking that after we finish the last test it is the semester break, and we all get to go home for awhile. We have almost a month off for Christmas break so it will be a nice, relaxing, time away from school.
We don’t really have much planned yet at the moment for Christmas break. We might go help a second grade teacher build gingerbread houses with her students at our mom’s school, and we definitely have some shopping to do. We already bought our brother that new Guitar Hero 3 game for Playstation, and our mom would really enjoy a new digital camera. So we really need to out there sometime and take care of all of that stuff.
Well we better get back to studying for our finals. We hope that you all have a great Christmas break and look forward to telling you more about ours when we come back!!!!

Meet Courtney Snyder!!

Hello!!! My name is Courtney Snyder and I am a sophomore at LaRoche College. I am 20 years old and attended Knoch High School. I am majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. Some activities that I enjoy include being outside, going to the beach, and hanging out with my friends and boyfriend. I live on campus in Mahler Hall with 4 of the funniest girls ever. Our room is constantly full of laughter and fun which really helps to eliminate the college stress from our lives. I will post some pictures later so you can meet them all!!
Here at LaRoche I am involved in quite a few activities. I am a member of the Education club, community service group, work study, participating in tutoring at a local elementary school and of course, a student blogger J. A group of friends are also trying to create a LaRoche ski and snowboard club which would also be great to join!
I will share this blog with my twin sister Chelsea. Being a twin defiantly has its advantages and disadvantages and I am sure that you will hear about them later on. We are actually roommates this year and have gotten along for the most part. Like all siblings we fight, but it has become better as we have grown older. It is very likely that sometime this year you will read something about us fighting but its okay; our room would defiantly not be as fun and entertaining as it is if we got along all the time.
Throughout my blog entries I hope to give you a clear vision of the student life here at LaRoche. I will write about activities held on campus, different experiences in the clubs and organizations that I belong to, and keep you up-to-date on campus life. It is my hope that my blog really motivates you to come visit our campus and experience first hand what we have to offer. Please continue to read my new blog entries to feel apart of LaRoche’s college campus…..WELCOME TO LAROCHE!!!!

Meet Chelsea Snyder!

Hello, my name is Chelsea Snyder and I am a sophomore at La Roche College. I am majoring in interior design, and am thinking about picking up a minor in facility management. I am work-study for the Admissions Office, a La Roche student blogger, and am actively involved in ASID (American Society of Interior Designers). I am a full time student and resident of Mahler Hall; my dorm room is FAR from ordinary. I have 4 roommates who are my best friends. One of my roommates is Courtney, my twin sister. There will be more to come about life as a twin in my future blog entries.
I am twenty years old, and my birthday is September 22. Along with Courtney, I also have a younger brother Chad, who is sixteen. I attended Knoch High School where I was in Student Council, a majorette (twirler), and a member of the Spanish club. I enjoy hanging out with friends, shopping, going to our beach house, talking on the phone, and although this might not sound very interesting, I enjoy cleaning and keeping things organized.
I work as Redhawk Recruiter at La Roche (so come and sign up for a tour J). Courtney and I live together, both work in the admissions office, and also work on the weekends at a nursing home (Concordia Lutheran Ministries) that is close to our home. There, we are both dietary aides.
Throughout my blog I hope to bring you many laughs, and ease you into the transition between high school and college. I hope that you will find comfort in my blogs knowing that college is an important step in life and must be taken seriously, but also it can be very fun with many good times and can be experienced with many good friends. Knowing how stressful it is in choosing the right college for you where you can succeed and feel at home, I wish you the best of luck. It is my hope that you will read my entries and feel at home within them. La Roche is really a great college and I hope that you will take into consideration all that it has to offer.
